Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training Program

Building skilled trades careers while rebuilding our community. This hands-on program prepares participants for entry into the construction industry through classroom instruction, career readiness, safety training, construction math, and real field experience.

Qualifications for Attending

Participants should be ready to commit to a structured, hands-on training experience designed to prepare them for success in the skilled trades.

  • Interest in construction or skilled trades
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on environment
  • Commitment to attendance and participation
  • Readiness to follow jobsite safety expectations

Required Documents

  • Valid photo ID
  • Social Security card or work authorization
  • Proof of address
  • High school diploma or GED if available

  • Work boots

  • Tool belt, tape measure, and hammer

Step 1

Recruitment

Community outreach, applicant screening, and onboarding for local residents ready to begin a pathway into the trades.

Step 2

Pre-Apprenticeship

Students complete the Perry Street Pre-Apprenticeship Program, building safety, technical, math, and workplace readiness skills.

Step 3

Apprenticeship Placement

Graduates are prepared to transition into apprenticeship opportunities, entry-level contractor roles, or next-step workforce programs.

Step 4

Journeyman Development

Participants continue gaining field hours, trade competency, and hands-on experience that support long-term advancement.

Step 5

Contractor / Business Owner

The long-term vision is to develop skilled workers into leaders, licensed tradespeople, contractors, and business owners who reinvest in the community.
